I know the romance between Ember and Wade is amazing but the immigrant struggle and guilt we carry really shines in this movie 💖 this is definitely a story about being an immigrant first and a romance second

*Elemental Spoilers Below*

From the beginning where the parents present their fire names only be given an “easier” name, I instantly connected with this movie (can’t tell you how many new immigrants with the name Grace or Jennifer because their Chinese name had a similar meaning). The flashback when Ember couldn’t see the flower and hiding behind her dad as people give them the side-eyes, the beach scene where Ember puts so much on herself for being a “good daughter” and is willing to sacrifice her happiness and the freedom to choose in order to pay back a smidge of her parents sacrifices- everything leading up to the beautiful conclusion of her dad telling her that she is the dream just really broke me down 🥹 it’s just nice to hear that when the same guilt still weighs me and a lot of other people as well

Anyways please go watch Elemental, it’ll warm your hearts 🔥💖💧
